All the news... EVER!
After consulting the flag manufacturers on crest size and scale, their advice is to fix the flag size at 85ft X 50 ft, this will ensure that the crests are all in proportion with the flag design and that we end up with the highest quality product possible. Barmyflags are aware of the progress of the collection and are ready to go ahead with the project once our target sum has been achieved.

Edging ever closer to the total, we feel now is the time to vote on the
final design of the flag. Each contributor will be able to make a single vote by completing the form on this web site.
(appearing 01-09-05). Individual’s votes will be displayed on the
Roll of Honour, ensuring no fiddling or duplicate votes. The voting will run throughout
September, ending on 30-09-05.

The flag has now been ordered, we have had to order it now to allow enough time for it to be finished in time, £3000 has been paid with another £500 to be paid on completion so we need another £400 to be collected between now and March.
After consultation with the FA and gauging the opinions of gaining access to the stadium the final design is a 100ft x 60ft st George Cross with "WE BELIEVE" accross the middle the 3 lions crest in the top left hand corner and the gold star bottom right with "1966" underneath it.
The flag will be fireproofed and this alone will be costing £300 this is essential to enable us to gain access to the stadiums. Thankyou for all your support and help producing "Your" flag. But like I said we still need another £400 in over the next 5 months so any donations are still very very welcome.
We have a meeting with the FA in November to outline our intentions with the flag and will be approaching them for help regarding insurance and possible transport. We are also in talks with Soccer AM and 2 Newspapers regarding promotion of the flag as world cup fever is beginning to kick in next may. Remember, as far as we are aware this is to be the largest football flag produced in this country to be regularly in use so if you haven't donated, now is your chance to be part of something really special.

The flag material has now been fireproofed and is currently in production. It is hoped that the flag will be completed in the Spring so that we can organise the flag being used for the first time at the final friendly before the world cup, it is hoped that we will be able to parade the flag around the pitch as part of the pre match entertainment at this game keep your eyes peeled for updates.
The final flag is going to be 100ft by 60ft and is the first 100ft flag produced by Barmyflags and as far as we know it will be the largest football flag produced in this country. We are currently working on with the FA on gaining early accesss to the stadiums in Germany to get the flag set out.Transportation is also now organised with Sharon Atkins kindly allocating space on her coach to take the flag out to each match. The final cost of the flag is £3500, of the additional cash collected over this sum £200 is being kept aside to pay for insurance, maintenance and cleaning. All additional funds will be donated to the Bobby Moore fund. The press are aware of the project, small articles have already appeared in The Mirror and local press and I have already been interviewed by German magazine Stern. Once again thank you all for your part in this project each and everyone of you can be extremely proud!

Charlie from Barmy Flags has sent us a nice little teaser...
The photo shows Charlie holding a paper replica (to scale) up against actual lettering from the central phrase. Charlie is keen to point out that quite a lot of red is on the floor and that the droop is only due to the weight of the letter. Work on the crest has now begun, although it took 2 days just to back the material!

Apparently bad backs and sore knees have been the order of the week for Charlie & Co. up at Barmy Flags!!!

Another photo showing the lowest of the three lions. The mobile phone helps put some scale on the size of the crest!

The crest is now complete and will occupy the top left quadrant of the St. George's Cross. I think everyone will agree that it continues to exceed expectations.

This shows the size of less than half the flag when boxed up, hence the reason why the flag will be travelling to Germany by coach.

Four more photos showing an almost completed flag. Darren is due to pick the flag up on the 1st March, however, it will not be used until after the Uruguay match (maybe Old Trafford now by the looks of it).
Don't forget to check back regularly for updates!
